HIPSTERS

The project ”Hipsters” is aimed to challenge the vintage technique of woodcut using the aesthetics of postmodernism. The main theme is the hipster subculture depicted in various aspects in an ironic note. Old-fashioned woodcut technique sustains the concept of the project. Mainly a fashion that represents with self-sufficience a collage of past or present external cultures, the ”Hipsterism” is depicted with it's own attitude in the artworks. Elements like sunglasses, deers, golden chains, hairgel, and fancy haircuts are combined with simulated seriousity in the woodcuts giving them a vintage iconic vision.

The 20 prints were produced between 2012 and 2014.

”Hipster is actually a myth created by marketing.
